Starting in the autumn of 2026, HLT will launch a Master’s programme in Theology and Values-Based Leadership.
The programme is structured with a set of compulsory courses, a range of elective courses, and concludes with a master’s thesis. Students choose a specialization in either theology or values-based leadership. The programme thus builds on the combination of theology, values-based leadership, and societal engagement offered in HLT’s bachelor programmes or equivalent educational backgrounds.
The programme is designed to accommodate both full-time and part-time students. Teaching will partly be delivered in intensive sessions over three concentrated weeks each semester, and partly as regular campus-based instruction in addition to these sessions. Students may thus choose between two study models: attending the three intensive weeks combined with additional coursework requirements or participating in all scheduled teaching. Alternatively, students may pursue the programme part-time, taking fewer courses per semester.
The aim of the Master’s programme is to develop knowledge and skills that enable students to become value-conscious leaders with broad theological competence. The target group therefore includes leaders and professionals working in churches, the non-profit sector, and the business sector. Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree in theology/Christianity, leadership, religion and society, or an equivalent field of study, with a minimum average grade of C. All bachelor’s programmes at HLT, as well as equivalent qualifications, provide a basis for admission.
Further information about the programme’s content and structure can be found in the study and course catalogues for the Master’s programme. Please feel free to contact us at admission@hlt.no if you have any questions.
