Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology has received approval for its application to establish its own master’s degree programme. The accreditation from NOKUT was granted at the end of April and marks an important milestone for the institution.
The new programme is titled “Theology and Values-Based Leadership” and will become HLT’s first independently accredited master’s degree offering.
“This is a major milestone for us as a university college and gives us the opportunity to expand our academic offerings already this autumn,” says Rector Karl Inge Tangen.
The Next Step for HLT Students
Anyone who has completed a bachelor’s degree at HLT will qualify to apply for the new master’s programme, provided they have achieved a grade average of C or better. This means students will now have the opportunity to complete their entire educational journey at the institution. Students with equivalent qualifications from other institutions are, of course, also welcome to apply.
“For many years, we have blessed other universities and colleges with excellent students who leave HLT with a passionate heart and a solid bachelor’s degree, continuing their education elsewhere. We will continue to do that, but now they also have the option of completing their entire education with us,” says Tangen.
Flexible and International
The master’s programme offers students a high degree of flexibility. They can choose whether they want to focus primarily on leadership, theology, or a combination of both fields.
The programme will also be offered in both Norwegian and English, creating opportunities for both Norwegian and international students and contributing to a broader and more international student environment.
Building on Existing Partnerships
HLT already has many years of experience in master’s-level teaching through collaborations with Ansgar University College and the Academy for Leadership and Theology in Sweden. This cooperation will continue, allowing courses from the master’s programmes at the three institutions to be mutually recognised. However, the new Master’s in Theology and Values-Based Leadership will be HLT’s own independent programme.
High Expectations
Rector Tangen says that interest in an independent master’s programme has been strong for a long time.
“This is something many people have been waiting for, and we hope to begin with a large cohort from the very start,” he says.
He also highlights how this development fits into HLT’s long-term vision:
“In our vision, we talk about shaping leaders and theologians who help create a new and better world. With our own master’s programme, we now have another important tool to do exactly that.”
With the accreditation now in place, everything is ready for launch already this autumn. More information about the programme is available via the “Read More” button, where you will also find a link to the application form.
